The Depot

The Depot is a vibrant arts community which encompasses three art galleries, a gift shop, a recording studio, and a multitude of projects including a website on social history and tips about  Devonport, a web-based radio station, filmed interviews with New Zealand’s cultural icons, a magazine, and much more.

This multidisciplinary creative community is open and inclusive and encourages engagement in all art forms.  The Depot offers a variety of facilities, services and events that both support the creative community and provide opportunities for public appreciation including:

Depot Galleries
The Depot houses two galleries which host a variety of exhibitions by both established and emerging artists. The main gallery is also a venue for live performances, concerts and more.

FrontRoom
The Depot’s gallery shop is full of affordable, one-of-a-kind artworks made by New Zealand artists. This cash-and-carry shop has an ever evolving and revolving stable of artists whose unique works are sold at affordable prices. No mass-produced items here and every item tells a story.

Urban Arts Village Devonport

This Depot website provides a wealth of background information about Devonport. The site includes descriptions of the suburb’s rich arts community, history, people, past and present as well as practical tips for visitors (including walking maps). A great source of information for the inquisitive traveller.

Depot Sound
A recording and rehearsal facility based at The Depot and which is dedicated to providing a friendly and productive outlet for artists (musicians, poets, writers) and audio engineers. Depot Sound offers a wide range of accessible services including: recording, mixing and mastering; rehearsal rooms for hire and support and advice for musicians and budding producers.
