Biking to Devonport

Exploring Devonport by bike is a great way to visit the top lookout spots and enjoy the relaxed pace of life. If you are planning to visit Devonport with you bike you can travel across on the ferry from downtown Auckland as it is free to take your bike on the Devonport Fullers ferry.

Currently it is not possible to cycle across the Auckland Harbour Bridge so you will need to use a ferry service for Devonport, Bayswater or Northcote.

The Devonport peninsula area includes many kilometres of dedicated cycle lanes with beautiful beaches, historic fortifications and Devonport’s village at its heart.  The road traffic is mostly light but you need to keep hard left if the road doesn’t have a dedicated cycle lane.

If you are feeling adventurous you can cycle the Green Route, a scenic 6km trek to Takapuna that follows a network of paths, boardwalks and bridges journeys through parks, heritage areas, mangroves and residential streets.
