NZ Sculpture OnShore

Over 100 contemporary sculptures from some of New Zealand’s finest artists set against the stunning backdrop of the Hauraki Gulf. That’s NZ Sculpture OnShore; a biennial outdoor sculpture exhibition and major fund-raiser for NZ Women’s Refuge.

Now in its twentieth year, the event is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading exhibitions. It attracts consistently excellent art from established and emerging artists and offers a breadth and diversity of work which allows us to take some artistic risks whilst still ensuring there is “something for everyone”.

Visitors to NZ Sculpture OnShore consistently call it “a great day out”; a chance to see beautiful, exciting and sometimes whimsical artworks and enjoy the fabulous view from the scenic, cliff-top Fort Takapuna Historic Reserve.

All of the work exhibited is for sale, and this – along with ticket sales – has enabled the event to raise $1.34m to help women and children experiencing domestic violence in New Zealand. The 2012 event donation alone allowed Women’s Refuge to establish a recycled clothing boutique – Yellow Belle – which provides Refuge with an on-going income.

In addition to the outdoor sculpture, there is an indoor art shop showcasing and selling  smaller pieces of art and sculpture.  Visitors can enjoy an on-site café and weekend activities for the children. Just a short ferry ride from central Auckland, NZ Sculpture OnShore is an event not to be missed.  For more details go to www.nzsculptureonshore.co.nz
